I have an xj550 Seca that I just put back together and had to get an aftermarket clutch cable It is all the way tighten up so that there is no drag when i pull the clutch lever, but whenever I put it in first gear it always dies, even if the clutch lever is pulled all the way.

Sounds like a kickstand safety switch issue to me.

    +1

Oftentimes the kickstand switch will get cruddy and stick. Peel teh rubber boot back and clean the swithc out with contact cleaner. Follow up with a dry silicone lube.
If the cleaning the switch does not help it can be temporarily bypassed by putting a jumper wire at the plug (located further up the wiring harness on the right side of the bike).

Alright that fixed that issue, I also replaced all the turn signals with aftermarket ones and when I go to use them they turn on but only stay on and don't blink would any know how to narrow down the issue?

Also does anybody know a user or someone that can do seat upholstery. I would buy a seat cover but I made a new seat or should I just contact my nearest seat upholster?

The wattage of the bulbs is too low. Get some 27 watt bulbs.

So the wrong bulbs will cause the light to stay on? That is strange but not surprising. Mine does the same thing, I'll have to look into that.

The signal flasher works because of a thin bit of metal that bends when it gets hot. If the electrical load is too low, the metal strip never gets hot enough to do its job, and the lights won't flash.
The other solution is to use a no-load flasher, but then you have to add a second relay into the circuit or you lose the self-canceling feature.
