I just bought my first XJ700 about a month ago. Wasn't running, but I had her on the road in a couple days.

Now here it is a little less than a month later and I brought a second one home today. I think I'm in love with this bike, and if this keeps up, I may need a bigger garage.

Nooooo. No problem. It's only 2 bikes. I have over 30.... No problem. I know a guy that has around 80. He might have a minor issue. But that's ok, they have an ointment for that

Welcome to the group. Admitting you have a problem is the first step. Once you come to terms with it, the guilt goes away, and you can buy as many as you'd like. The guilt was your problem, right? ;) Cuz I can't help with the small garage.

    See it as investment.
You have 30 plus bikes and you need a new yacht or beach house, just sell them :)

    Sell? Sell them?

I don't think you understand how this works....

Like K-Moe said that is not how it works... it's more like:

You have 30 plus bikes and you need a beach house, you sell your house and buy one by the beach with enough storage for the current bikes + room for expansion.

Something like: "This was taken from the back porch of my beach house" ?

There are a few small towns near here where about half of the old buildings in downtown are filled with cars and motorcycles. Usually it's a retired dealer who decided to start a collection, and bought the buildings to use for storage whenever a local busness failed.

    Sproing!!!!!
Those are exactly the types of places I need to stay away from, seeing old, dusty, dry rotted, stuff makes me 'consider the possibilities' and end up spending money that I just shouldn't spend. I hate watching pickers cause I get jealous.

There's a trailer park near by with a pile of rusty Kawi triples. It's right by a red light. Every time I catch that red I just stop and drool...

Ok moe where are these secret stashes you speak of ? Or are they staying a secret under threat of death?
We should have our own YouTube channel just for bike picking nut bars like us!

One bike shop out in the country has an xs650 mounted on the top of a 20 foot tall stump. I know where all the scenic old bikes are in my area. And I point them out to a verrry patient wife every time we pass them.

People who spill the beans lose access. I'm still working my way to being trusted by the right people so I can have more than a peek through the window. It comes down to going to swap meets and talking to people.

Exactly. Currently restoring a '79 t-top Monte Carlo for me and the wife that many would have sent to the wrecker.

There are two dealers near me that have since built new storefronts, so their old buildings are now just an excuse for the old men that own them to horde old bikes. He's got three more XJ's sitting next to the one I bought the other day. And all but one (he's got a XJ700X that all that's left is the block and frame) are nearly complete.

He's just recently started selling because he's getting old and realized he's never gonna get to all his projects.
