So I had a bad day at work not sure why , but felt that way. Riding train home all I wanted to do is ride. I think it is cooler on the sun right now, more storms coming in. I have not rode for a week been busy thid evening just went for a short ride around neighbor hood , I have a big smile on my face right now. Would have loved to go for a few hours , but I can' t sky is clouding up. I love this bike:)

You probably won't need a therapy as long as you ride.

Went for a really nice ride today.. nice way to spend a Sunday. Went 160 miles bike ran fantastic. Cranked it up to 85 6000 rpm and still had throttle. Seemed happiest at 70 5500rpm . Temperature was great 82 degrees all was good until the rain clouds so cut it short. It was one of those rides you forget all your problems and cares. Indiana has some good back roads just ride around the corn fields , I rode 15 miles not another car or bike in sight.

Interesting observation. I can definitely imply that mine probably feels happiest between 85 and 120 (or maybe it's me that feels that way), but I am not condoning such action on pubic roads :)

One of the best parts of the midwest grain-belt is the lack of traffic.

I have a sign above the workbench..."You'll never see a motorcycle parked outside a shrink's office."

Great thread, my commute is only 3 miles but for some reason when I ride it's varies between 3 and 53.

Sometimes I take a quick ride around the lake, 32 miles round trip. All back roads with fun tight turns. I pass lots of farm land with fresh mowed hay or the aroma of cows standing by the road. Bushes cannery, must be making bake beans today, notice how much you smell things more riding a bike than in a car? dead skunk, ahhh !

Agree the smell of corn fields, fresh cut grass intoxicates you , I flip my visor up just to take it in ....I wish I was riding right now rather than sitting in cube. Agree great scents until dead animals or pig farms spoil it for a few miles.

Love the smells, until you follow a stripe in the road where a manure wagon left a trail of liquid stink and slick.

I thought this was amusing and repeated it to my co-worker who's ridden for years. He said "I've literally driven my motorcycle to my shrink's office". But, a nice thought! :)

I was thinking that too... that there must be exceptions to the rule... Another good one is riding my XJ to the chiropractor. When I walk in and he sees the helmet he says, "I guess you're feeling ok!"

When you live in a community that is surrounded by feedlots you tend to not notice such things.

We closed our carb clinic initiatives with Dave this year with a ride. We set out pretty late, but the first half hour or so (at sunset) was golden. Within moments of starting out, there was miles of pasture on both sides whizzing by will all the country aroma included. Deer heads "whack-a-moling" from the tall grasses on either side, with one actually scampering across the front of the lead bike. For those who live in places like this I now understand the, "How could you NOT have a motorcycle?" mentality. It really was something special.

We have some roads like this out east on Long Island, but not with such abundance. You also have to battle some (sometimes) crappy riding to get there, but you do it because it's worth it.

Western Pa, love the country roads, if i had to fight traffic it would take a lot of the fun out of getting out to ride .
Just need to watch more for animals than A-holes !

funny u said that, cause after hitting my deer at 2 AM, i get a little skittish while riding at night, if it was'nt after the strip club closed and drunk as hell, i might have accually reacted and swerved or brake or die ! Just to be clear, I don't drink and drive anymore, nor should anybody else, I got lucky !

Speaking of hitting things... I was out on Sunday morning, early... There's a impromptu car/bike show that happens every Sunday morning down by one of our ocean overlook parks. I've yet to see an XJ (other than mine) there. Lots of Harley's (of course) and I did see a really cool old Honda Gold Wing all cafe'd out. Anyway, on the ride home, there's a point where 3 parkways merge and I have to go from the extreme right to the extreme left. At one point while moving left, you have to head under an overpass on a curve with a slight bank left. Before I knew it, there appeared a softball sized rock ahead of me. Really round and completely out of place. Like it was not a broken piece of the asphalt or curb, etc. I'd like to say it was my keen riding skills that enabled me to avoid disaster, but it was just luck. I hit the rock at speed just right of center of the front tire. Shook like hell and I'd be lying if I told you I didn't shriek like a little girl momentarily. Heh... But she straightened out and I continued on.

I'm nearly positive that some idiot kid threw the rock onto the parkway from the above overpass. While it could have come from a truck hauling debris, no trucks are allowed on the parkways here so it is unlikely (though you could sneak on if you want to chance not having our state troopers on your tail...) it came from that.

When I got home, the sidewall was marked at the impact point, but it was easily wiped away and it does not look like there was any damage to the tire.

    Scary moment.

Incidentally, I must admit I was a bit perturbed just prior to this when a pair of Harleys came zipping by (while riding the right lane minding my own business... though not sluggishly at +65mph). Totally cut in front of me uncomfortably close, then back out again to the left and moved on. Couldn't help but think... Harley vs. Japanese thing? That sucks if that's what it was.

I had a couple of croch rockets do this to me. I was 8 over speed limit they both blew by me on left close enough to touch.
pulled back in 3 feet infront of me. just in time to see cop doing radar. he pulled them over i waved as i passed.

as far Harley vs. Japanese thing? yup that is out there with some of those HD riders.
its like the ride by wave most will wave back it is mostly the HD club members who don't. must be in the H.A. affiliate tag rules not to
