Any real TV repair shop can do the job (think old-school independent shop).
Are you sure your's has failed (did you ship it to one of us to swap into a running bike)?

Whoever watches a tv like that anymore......do repair shops like THAT even exist anymore!?!

I have one old monitor just for playing my Atari 2600 games, but I assume when that tv dies, I'm gonna be in a world of hurt

There are still electronics repair shops around. Even the new TVs can be repaired (I put new caps in a LCD set a few years ago).

When your old tv dies, you tell me and I'll send you one from here...I can even send you one with glass valves...

I think you need to find an old school electronics repair person, one that can troubleshoot circuit boards with discreet components. New electronics usually have everything as surface mount and IC chips. My 1958 tube amplifier is even easier to repair than new items - all discreet components (resistors, tubes, capacitors, etc.) with point to point wiring.

Most Radio SHacks that have closed seem to have found ways of staying open as independent stores, so he should look for more than just Radio Shack. My local is now billing themselves as an audio electronics store, but still sells descrete components.
