the previous owner buy it, because he want to restore it, but he run out of money and decided to give up
he says that the engine runs but it needs the starter coil, and spark plug wires, the carburator falls down

My initial reaction is that for the money you'd spend on just a couple of parts this needs, you could get a much more complete bike to start with. Mine was $300 (for example).

yes i know, it comes with the tank and some other parts, i got it for the same, 300 dlls, for me it was ok, because here in mexico the people try to sell their junk for high prices, dont know why,
when i saw this bike i tought that was a fair price, and this bike is hard to get, i love motorcycles and i always want to rebuild one so i took the oportunity

And probably a good reason why they are being held up by a wire and bracing.

By the looks of the frame. It appears to be a 550 Seca (no seat drop in frame). Some parts differ from the 550 Maxim. Post the VIN# from the neck of the frame for correct Identification. This will help you make sure you get the correct parts.

Take about 100 more pictures of every detail of the bike so you have something to reference back to later if a question comes up while working on the bike.
Every thing you work on. Take more pictures!

I have no idea what your parts availability is but Chacal is the best source for most of what you will need to bring this bike back to life. Just click on his name to bring up his member info. Then select the information tab. Click on the start conversation button to contact him about parts.

A couple things that I see are the starter is missing. There is an oil leak at the clutch cover. The brake pedal looks bent in close to the clutch cover.

If you get that bike fixed up the motorcycle gods will be very happy with you. That said I hate to see you put too much time and money in a bike that ruff. You may get disgusted and never enjoy the motorcycle. The Yamaha XJ's are great bikes. I think you shouldn't put too much money into it and try to find one that needs an engine and use your engine. Maybe get it running enough to feel the satisfaction of saving it and sell it. You might make enough profit to buy a better one.
    Anyway welcome to the XJ's.

im not doing it for the profit, i do it for fun and my love to the bikes, i always wanted to restore a bike, and when i got mine fixed i will never sell it

it is the first bike i bought by my self, and wanted to know more about bikes before i start riding, so i tought, "restore a bike and you will get knowledge"
i didn´t want to just buy and ride, so i know that im going to put a lot of effort in her, but is going to be the bike i build with my hands and of course will enjoy that.
