I'm in the cleaning mood again & would like to sell parts similar to finding stuff at a garage sale - cheap! Several extra parts in which a majority come from the Maxim model, either a 650 or 550. I don't have everything off the spare parts bike & did not take a picture of a few items available for sale, so I'll list them first. If you are interested in the following parts, I can snap a picture and we can discuss via private messaging. The rest of the items for sale I was able to organize & snap a picture. Also please note that a lot of these parts may be interchangeable. Ask around for help, I may or may not know the answer to each part you're interested in but we'll figure it out. None of the prices listed include shipping - cost of shipping to be determined when you provide a zip code.
    • starter solenoid

I just confirmed last evening that the mirror male threads do NOT match the female threads of typical yamaha lever mounts. Flat (drag style) handlebar is standard 7/8". Unsure about the exhaust compatability - if you are serious about it & shipping costs don't scare you, I'll look into it with my 650. I figure locals would be interested in the big items.

Unfortunately I do not know the answer to that. Electrical components on these bikes are not my forte. They might OHM out at different specs?

The 650 fork emblem would be the bottom one shown in the above picture. If you just want the orange colored 650 emblem I could package that into a padded envelope and send it off for $4 shipping.

FWIW the 550 emblems are shown as well. I guess if you have the correct turn signals either emblem shown could be interchangeable - the 550 emblem is mounted via a screw on each side into the signal mounts. $5 each plus shipping

Hand levers are sold. 750 mufflers are sold.

I'm surprised nobody else has asked about the rest of these parts. Where else can you find $3 shims? Sure there is a shim pool but I've got enough spares for myself just thought others may want spares.

OK, Questions. The carb boots (engine and airbox side). What condition are they in? I have cracks in my engine-side boots, so would certainly entertain some un-cracked boots.
Shocks, Are the 550 maxim shocks like the 550 Seca ones? Are they rust-free?

    Thanks

Thanks for asking. Carb boots appear to be good condition. I'll snap a few close up pictures and re-post or send you a PM in the morning. Shocks are stock chrome, shiny aluminum color. I can't tell if the seca shocks are suppose to be black or shiny aluminum color - pictures of various seca's on google have black or shiny aluminum color so it various and I'm not sure if I can answer your question. They are not completely rust-free but I wouldn't be afraid to use them. I'll snap a few close up pictures and get with you in the morning.

Thanks. My Seca has chrome shocks/springs. 1 side is fairly rusty, so probably beyond buffing with steel wool. I'll compare part #s to determine if both XJ550s use the same shocks/springs.

We found out that the Maxim shocks were a bit different up top. They have a single part # for shock/spring where the Seca has separate part#s for shock and spring, so kind of hard to compare on that basis.

Do you have a set of cam chain guides for an xj550, '82? Also, maybe a fuse box cover? Going to look at my cam chain tensioner tomorrow, might grab that from you if needed.

I'm also in need of a set of carb intake boots. Have any available?

Still have the rear grab bar? I really only want the top plastic bit if that helps shipping costs.

I've sold the extra rear grab bar. To be clear, I do have another rear grab bar that is not in use since a luggage rack is mounted on my XJ550 currently. However at the price of just getting rid of parts I think its in my best interest just to keep the one spare rear grab bar on the shelf for now in case I decide to remove the luggage rack. Thanks for asking though

Sorry, I've thrown away the chain guides. The spare engine was sitting in the middle of the garage taking up space so I took it to the scrap yard a few weeks ago. I do have the cam chain tensioner if you need it though.
Only spare boots I have for the XJ550 are the ones between airbox and carburetors, which from my understanding is not what you are in need of. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Your inbox is completely full so I cant message you. I am new to the forums so if there is another way of private messaging let me know. But i was just curious do you have any foot pegs for a xj650? And do you still have the horn or front tire?

Hey @ZombieJoe sorry about that. I've cleaned out my inbox since your notification but to answer your question(s) - No I don't have any of those parts. I've sold the foot pegs and the front tire (rim) was scrapped a few weeks ago. Thanks for asking though!
