Did a search here (twice), could not find a solid answer.

I have a chance to pickup a factory XJ750 "King Queen" cruiser type seat (vinyl split, needs recover, foam repair but don't they all!?) I know the 750 tank drops on, and the diagram of the two frames looks pretty darn close. Can I use the 750 seat on my 650? Cruiser, Out

If it as for a Seca, no. If it is for a Maxim, maybe.

Initial Update for General Information - Reference: XJ650 to XJ750 Seat Interchange:

Just received my used 1980 XJ750 Factory Original "King Queen" (Yamaha called it the "High Cruiser") Seat Assembly. Pulled off my stock 1980 XJ650 seat, and the 750 seat sits down evenly in the same spot. Could not quite get rear locking hooks to latch, but we are talking between a 1/4 to 3/8 of an an inch alignment issues, and I have not removed the 650 tank and replaced it with the 750 tank yet. I suspect it will just be merely a matter of tank placement and/0r "relaxing" all related mounting bolts and re-tightening when it latches down. Getting my house and trucks ready for winter right now, so hobby time is limited. Will update again when I know more.

Seat exactly follows the contours of the factory grab bar, etc - and looks like it belongs there. Definitely gives the 'old 650' a very 60s-70s "Custom Cruiser/Chopper" look. If it does bolt down correctly, I have a NOS Factory Yamaha Sissy Bar to back it up with.... I'll chime in with details once it works - or advise if any real problems. Cruiser, Out....

Yamaha XJ750 King Queen Seat 1.jpg Let me try to upload a picture....

It will need to go to the upholstery shop, as it has a cracked seam and some minor damage. But I think it looks cool.... But then, "Easy Rider" was one of my Generation's movies! Cruiser

That seat was also an option for the 650 Maxim, and also the Specials. the pans are a bit different, but if you are fortunate, try swapping the mount/latching hardware from the 650 seat. I also had one that I was able to get to latch as long as I was sitting/bouncing on the seat while moving the lever.. It took some fitness and graceful maneuvering, but I could do it.......

Good luck.... I hope it works for you.

I'd also highly recommend that you obtain the tall seat back support that is for those seats. There were a couple different kinds.... Some had straight arms at the bottom, and some had a hump. Can't remember which was for which at the moment. MiGhost may be able to chime in on that----

I do have a NOS, Factory Yamaha "Sissy Bar" that is meant to work with that seat - and it mentions adjusting it for support in the instruction sheet. It wraps around the factory grab bar and goes up. CC
