Ok, so I take the bike in for the second time to get it certified. I was told that I needed some reflectors and to fix the master brake cylinder. So I did that and all worked great.

So, I take it in, drop it off and then get a call...

Your indicator lights, rear lights, neutral light, oil light do not work.... Wtf?

So, how do all of these things go from working to not working in a flash? All 2 fuses are good and I did a quick sweep of the wires and they all appeared to be good, but will do another sweep tomorrow. Any ideas on what to check on? Relays?

I had a similar problem with my inspection. It turned out the Fuse holders were not holding the fuses tight enough. I just squeezed them with some pliers and put the fuses back in and the problem was gone. Hope it's that easy for you.

The OP is in Ontario Canada. We have to have any car or bike inspected to register them.

If you hit a bump and things started to work that is a sure sign that you have a loose wire somewhere.

Never rely on visual inspection of your fuses! A $10 continuity tester/multimeter will save you a lifetime of aggrivation!!!!!

    Good luck w/ the insp.

do you have blade fuses yet, or still the old glass type?? I would suggest a fuse box swap is in order if you still have the original fuse block.

    Sorry for the rant.

    Now this statement scares me.

The purpose of inspections (at least here in Australia) is to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and safe to use. Not only for you, but for others on the road.

Are you saying that you are using your bike on the road in a less than roadworthy state??? Putting yourself(Yes, your choice) but more importantly, other motorists and pedestrians at risk????

Inspections here are only to make sure the basic things are within spec. Eg Brakes work, lights work and tires have enough tread on them.

The sad part is that here in Australia, inspections only happen on first registration so you can drive it for fifty years so long as the registration doesn't lapse. I'm a big fan of the syatem in place when I lived in New Zealand. All vehicles older than 5 years(I think) have to be inspected by a licenced person every six months. PITA, but it keeps some trash off the road.

about inspections, I live in FL same as Ziggy and I do see where hes coming from cuz inspections are a hassle (i remember all the interesting tricks we used in MA) but I also see so many unsafe vehicles driving around too, we had an inspection in FL a while back and to be honest I wouldn't mind having it back, I cant list the number of times ive looked at the car next to me and though $h!t i gotta get some distance between me an that POS cuz if that guy couldnt spend more than $300 on his whole car there isnt any chance he's got insurance.... and im no tree hugger but when you see a car chugging along belching crap out the rear it makes you think too  ...

of course that inspection shouldn't apply to MCs we should get a pass!!

We don't have inspections here (CA) save for returning a salvaged title back to the road. Not a real problem, brakes and lights. It's easy enough but I totally agree one should not ride (or drive for that matter) anything that may put others at risk. I would go for the annual requirement here if it weren't such an infringment on freedoms (Heaven knows there are too many now, getting worse every day). We do have an 2 year smog requirement but it is just too long apart to be much good. Of course I'll rant about how much I hate having to go through it every time but I know it is for the greater good and air quality. Additionally, if the smogging official finds any leaks or unsafe conditions, he/she can fail the vehicle until the condition is corrected (most don't look that hard). Far too many vehicles on our freeways each day that are an accident looking for someone to hurt. Not to mention the noxious exhaust from a vehicle in poor/neglected tune.

Wow I guess living in Jersey my whole life, I just accepted inspections as just something else that I have to do every year. Renew my insurance, renew my registration, go get inspected. (Hell, the inspections are only every 2 years now!) Renew my license every 4 years. No skin off my ass... They just do a safety inspection on bikes, they don't do a smog test. Tires, lights, horn, mufflers, etc. But with how tight the smog test is here for cars, I cant understand how some of them are on the road. (We have the second strictest smog standards besides Cali, and we could make yours look tame in a few years if people get their way!)
