I just pulled the carbs off my bike ('82 650 seca) and when I was cleaning the bowls I took a look at the jet size and one read 40, and the other read 11o. I was told with the K&N pods, or any pods for that matter, the jets needed to be changed out but I can't seem to find what size I need for pod filters. Any one else have this trouble? Or know the correct size?

I also have the 4 into 1 exhaust and on some other forums I read that will change jet sizes also...

    Thanks!

All I can say is good luck with this ...no fan of pods period... yes you need to change jets , _you will have to pull carbs change jets, run it , and possibly pull carbs a few more times change jets ..repeat ...THERE is no just put thus size jet in and your good to go...one size may work ok at higher speed but not work so well at lower speed or vice vs verse. Another down side don't ride in the rain quick way to get an engine full of water...

One more item you will need to fabricate some type of bracket to support the carbs, relying on the intake boots alone is not a good idea IE boots can crack from supporting weight of carbs in stock configuration carbs are supported front and back, unless you already have some type of bracket.

Gotcha, I have read several poor reviews of pods. They are aesthetically pleasing but I'd prefer function....especially living in Oregon that's a great point about riding in the rain! I'll check to see if I can find some OEM filters or something similar.....I don't really have the knowledge base (or equipment) for carb tuning. If it was just a quick fix I'd be more optimistic. Do you guys have any quick suggestions on OEM vs aftermarket air filters?

Thanks again for all the info.

Click on the top right link - XJ4ever. He will have filters. OEM type would be best. Other types may give a different air flow rate and change fuel/air mix.

EBay you might find a stock airbox...this would be my vote. Getting in can be a chore but can be done pulling starter helps.
