My '82 Seca 750 has only 5,800 miles on her and she runs like a champ. The issue I'm having is after I ride it then park it, drops of gas form on the bottom of the right side of the gas tank (if you're sitting on the bike) and eventually drip to the floor. There are no drops of gas on the left side. Is there a fitting or hose on the bottom of the tank on that side that can only be seen by removing the tank? If the gas cap isn't venting properly could that cause the tank to leak? I don't smell gas at the cap itself and I've replaced the rubber gasket on it. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

looks like the tank needs to come off. I had a shop replace the fuel sending unit not that long ago but maybe it needs to be re tightened and I'll check the seam on that side as well, thanks for the info, much appreciated. Is the gas tank a bear to get off?

Piece of cake. Open seat there is a bolt at back of the thank 13mm , remove bolt , lift tank support tank with a block of wood 8 to 10 inch will work or what ever you have. Disconnect fuel line and vacuum line from petcock. Disconnect sending unit plug. Gently grasp tank and wigle it towards back of bike , tank will move off rubber bumpers . Put tank on an old towel carefully inspect for leaks if you can't see where it is, take some talk powder puff it where you think it might be the fuel will show it's prence where it is wettest on powder. If it is a seam you may get away with sealing tank Kreame, Redcoat,Caswell etc and or you might take to a radiator shop and have it hot tanked and brazed( tank will need repainted)

Secas (like the OP has) are even easier. Flip the seat open. Unplug the fuel sending unit. Remove the tank holding clip. Tip tank to remove fuel and vac lines. Remove tank.

you guys are awesome and I'm almost sure it's coming from the fuel sending unit as I had a shop install a new one awhile back and they jacked up a couple other items such as the right front caliper fell off after they put on new brake pads, luckily I was pulling out of a parking lot so no damage. My guess is they didn't install a new gasket on the new sending unit. I ordered a new gasket and washers from Len at xj4ever (he knows his stuff!!!) and will get them installed. Thanks again to all that helped.

I wish I was and when they replaced the pads they didn't change the brake fluid even though I asked them to check it so when the front brakes didn't feel any better I checked the brake fluid and it had to be the original stuff from when it was built. I flushed it out and the brakes are better now and I fired that shop for good.

And this should be stickied to something as to Why Newbies Should Forget Shops and Become Their Own Mechanics - because (repeat with me class):
"Nobody but yourself will pay meticulous attention to detail on your bike" and what happened above was not even close to meticulous, it was full blown half - arsed.

    Glad you didn't get hurt.

Stick around here, get a manual, read the Information Overload Hour and ask questions. You will be able to do all of the work yourself.

Which probably won't bother them at all....and they won't have to work on 'an old bike'

Once the tank is removed put two pieces of 2x4 under the tank, one at the front and one at the rear to keep the petcock from being damaged.

got the tank off and as suspected there was no gasket on the fuel sending unit and no sealing washers for the four screws that hold it on. Going to have a shop check the tank and hopefully it can be cleaned up and put back in use. It was really easy to get it off and thanks again to all for ideas and suggestions, all very helpful.

And a big atta boy to Len at XJ4ever as he got me the parts I needed quickly and gave me some great advice and links on dealing with the tank and cleaning it out.
