Bought this bike from my cousin for 100 american big ones! What a steal!! There was no key, but was able to bypass ignition switch. Fuel tank was empty and had a small amount of surface rust. I was able to clean it out with apple cider vinegar and distilled water. Put some fuel in and got it to start right up... on 2 cylinders though. I will be pulling the carburetors out this weekend. More to come!

theres a lock smith on ebay that can cut keys from the key number that is on the bottom of the ignition switch $30 you get 2 keys
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/39022795024...em=&sspagename=ADME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr

check the coils and plug caps as well as the pickup coils that could be why you only get 2 cylinders running.

you can down load a repair manual free here

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Update on the bike. Checked and confirmed good compression across all 4 cylinders, aswell as good spark.
Pulled the carbs out and found two of the needles were stuck. When I pulled them apart, the rubber tip on both needles ripped off. I ended up ordering rebuild kit for all four. Now I wait for parts.

Started stripping the bike since I'm waiting on parts. I know you guys don't like cutting these up, but I had to. Went with a none traditional frame loop. I used a set of handlebars I had laying around to get the shape I wanted. My welding skills are ok, but my grinding skills are even better!

Let me know if there are any parts you need. I've got an 82 XJ650 Seca that has been completely disassembled. All the parts are on a pallet in the garage.

Did you sleeve the welds? I really hope that you did.

The bar's are a 7/8" O.D. and had to be twisted into the frame. I was able to get them in about an inch and then put the weld down.

Good deal. From the other angle they looked like butt welds on the same size tube.

Picked up a couple of XJ750's. One of them is complete but missing the key. The other is a parts bike.
I decided to use the seca tank on my 650. Went ahead and trimmed up the front fender as well.

I was initially going for a cafe racer feel, but decided to flip the bars and go the scrambler route. I'm working on fabricating a face plate to mount the light and hide wiring.

Working on the faceplate. I have a few more things to finish on it, but that should be the overall look. Also want to mount the fender up higher.
Ignore my poor photo shop skills. Trying to get a better idea of where to mount it.

Lay a white tea towel down on that bench before you start losing small, but expensive, parts.
