Howdy once again guys, I am sort of stuck at the moment as I was trying to remove my carbs from the bike and immediately I was having problems stuffing the intake boots into the airbox as described by a video posted in a previous post here. The condition of the boots in the video might as well be brand new rubber as mine wouldn't even budge. I managed to push them in eventually but not without an incredible effort. But my question isn't about the intake boots but rather on the other side of the carbs. For the life of me the rubber boots attaching the carbs to the engine are practically plastic and I cannot get them out. I would really like to avoid buying new boots but I imagine that it may be my only option. But for the time being could I heat up the boots with a hair dryer or anything just to loosen it up? Y'all are gonna call me a moron for it but once I realized I couldn't use my hands to pry them off I stuck my foot on one side and pushed with my life and they ain't goin nowhere. As always any and all help is appreciated, I know I'll catch some flak but hey I deserve it lol.

Hair dryer is the ususal method of heating original intake boots. We've all traveled down that path.

They will become flexable again after a soak in alcohol and oil of wintergreen.

Any cracking can be repaired with RTV after a thorough scrubbing (there are several threads with the instructions). I beleive that Chacal still carries new replacements for the 700. Start a conversation with him.

Well thankfully I still got the old lady's hair dryer from the drying stage of the tank lining so I better use it before she starts to get suspicious. Thanks for the speedy replies as always you guys are practically building the bike for me.

    Cheers,

Pry bar and block of wood works. And yes oil of wintergreen/alcohol is magic for hard rubber parts. Available at local pharmacy

Silicone grease on inside of boots, and a little on carb body and they should slip in...you can get grease at most hardware stores in plumbing isle .

He's in Missouri. He can buy all the alcohol he wants at the convenience store (and not the denatured kind).
