Hey what's up everybody, so my bike ran OK on the stock jets but it ran lean, it has pods and a four into one header, both came on the bike, on the stock set it it would spit and make noise sometimes off of idle and also it would pop when decelerating from hi revs,so I bought a jet set, 42 jet, 125, 130,135,140 and 145 jets, I put the 42 and 125 on to start and it has a ton more power but now it studders at half throttle now, I was thinking I might need to shim the needle, anybody have a Home Depot or Lowe's part number for washers to shim up the needle? Anybody have this happen and fix it? And ideas? I can't put the stock air box back in because that is where all my electronics are or I prob would, any ideas help, thanks

4mm inside 9-10 mm outside is a must to retain the slight needle tilt built into the slide socket

Check that you're not no 'overfuelling' after your jet change. I had the exact same issue at half throttle and above (when main jet gets to work) and I had to drop the needle. In fact I did raise it first which made it worse which is how I came to that conclusion..

    Just saying..

Ya I think you're right, I have a 42 and 125, I'm thinking the 42 is good but the 125 is to rich, I shimed the needle today and it got worse, the plugs are black so I'm going to dial it back, prob going to order 118 or 120

I found mine was pretty sensitive just to teh needot sure what carbs you have but the Mikuni needles are slotted so you can move them up or down with a circlip.

Are you still using the velocity stacks between the pods and carbs? They smooth out the airflow and can improve how the bike runs.

I'm just using the cheapo China pods that came with my bike, are you talking about the pieces off of the factory air box? I do have a set on my parts bike, I might incorporate them into my bike but I got that bike running good also, so I am going to see how it runs without first, it ran pretty good before I changed the jets, it was just running real lean

Maybe you should look into this if you're having problems. Also, when you say good it sounds like doubt the perofrmance, is your bike running so so or great? Rejetting rarely fix the main issue which derive from putting a different air intake system on your bike, especially on a constant velocity carburetor(x4).

I'm referring to the rubber boots (tubes) that connect the airbox to the carbs.

And steer your right on the stock setup it runs good but performance if lacking, if that makes sense, with the 125 jets the performance is great but Streetability suffers

The problem with that setup is that it doesn't seem to fit on my seca!! Looks like the angle of the frame is slightly different from a maxim and there's just no way it will fit. I ordered the same one this guy is using and there's a good half inch that just won't fit...

Chances are they will fit, theirs some slight deformation and the ends will rest against the frame, but when they're seated it's not very much noticeable. I should have mentioned in my posts but I didn't think of it at the time.

Although the Hitachi rack could be longer than that of mikuni.. If you could post your results on my post we can keep it updated for integrity. Thanks.

Something doesn't sound right here---- the engine area .... The "cradle" should be the same. Engine mounting points, fit, airbox, carbs, boots.... Same. So if those are the same, then the fit and frame should be the same in that area.

Is it it POSSIBLE that your frame is bent a little

No eveything fit nicely,,seat, tank original airbox so the frame is ok. If you look at his pictures from other post it looks as his boots (original) are different than mine. Apparently shorter but it's hard to tell from a picture. Also, I didn't spend a whole lot of time making it fit because the center ones would not fit since I added a battery box under the seat that was limiting the access.

After looking at the pics..... I'm thinking to tell you just to loosen the clamps on the carbs and rotate the boots a bit to re-orient them. You're using the original airbox boots and trying to squeeze pods into a space that is not big enough for them
