2017 Vintage Yamaha Rally (XS Southeast) will be held at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge on 22 through 25 September.

If you were a guest for the 2016 event, they give you 30 days from checkout to claim the same space for next year. The rest of the resort is saved for our event until about 15 January. If you reserve now, they don't hit your credit card until 60 days from the event.

We're still working on the details for the '17 event. We have a few months to put it all together, but trust we are already working on it. We're encouraging vintage Yamaha riders to join in the fun.

XJ folks make plans to attend, There are private rooms, bunk houses and camping. Whatever you choose you will have a great time.
Pictured above are my riding buddies me(Mark), Mike, Paul, Tony and Jim at Bald River Falls in the Cherokee national forest in TN. They are all vintage bike riders. The second pic is the best Seca I have seen in many years.
If you are in the Raleigh NC area I can help you with hauling your bike and gear if needed. XJ and XS riders come in from all over, some travel over 1000 miles to attend. Its well worth the trip.

Thanks again to Len for donating door prizes. I'll have my new rotors on soon. Mikes XS also donated prizes.

    For more info contact XSSEinfo@gmail.com

    The rally location is:
Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge & Resort
    1755 Lower Stecoah Road
    Stecoah, NC 28771
    Tele: 828-479-3864
    http://ironhorsenc.com

This is a no fee rally. Just show up on your vintage Yamaha. Yes, it would be nice to let us know you're coming, but not required. (do that here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1229500693755146/) Contact the Iron Horse directly to make your reservation. If you procrastinate you'll have to plan on bringing your tent. Rooms will go quickly. That is why I'm posting now.

I hope to see a lot of XJ's in September.

I ride up to Tellico quite often, so though I'm new to the community and just now building my bike, I may have to make plans to ride up.

Hope you can make it. We rode through Tellico to have lunch in Englewood last year. Rode the skyway back to the Iron horse lodge.

Now is the best time to take the first step. Make your reservation at the Iron Horse. Over 60 days out, you may cancel without penalty. If you procrastinate, the options will be sleeping on the ground or in a hotel/motel five or more miles away. I fully expect the place to fill up well in advance of the rally.

Merry Christmas! It's time to think about 2017. We have the resort reserved for a couple more weeks. After that, the general public has access. I'd like nothing better than to see nothing, but vintage Yamaha enthusiasts at the Iron Horse during our event. I don't want to see a Harley or a BMW unless you rode it in! Let's fill the place up.

Facebookers, feel free to sign on https://www.facebook.com/events/1229500693755146/ Help us get a head count.

I really would like to attend this event.
Been 4 wheelin in the Smokey Mountains and drove on a small part of the tail. Ever since I have wanted to bring my bike down from Canada to ride the whole route.
I don't use facebook so will continue to check in here for updates.

I just responded to a Canadian on XS650.com. There will be a bunch of you. I'll help put y'all together as I am able. If you want a bed, it's time to make that reservation. This will be your first of many visits.

We're getting down to slim pickings on the lodging. There's always plenty of room for tenting.

I may not make it down afterall but I passed on the info to a friend of mine .
He and his buddy already made a reservation and will be attending.
With any luck I will be there too. Perhaps in a tent. :)

    Posted today at XS650.com:

Just made my reservations at Iron Horse. Spoke with "Charity". Very nice young lady. Anyway, she advised all semi-private rooms booked, a couple of 110 volt tent/trailer sites available, 2 efficiency private rooms available @ $119.95 per night, the Old Homestead Cabin available, and primitive tent/trailer sites still available. Not sure about large 30/50 amp RV sites. She will let me know on those. Don't get left out!

That looks real nice! I like the red embellishments. Are those stock shocks? I can't tell if it's just a sticker on them.

I had purchased new gold tank logos, as the old ones were really toast. So for giggles, I tried painting the Yamaha Logo bright red and put them on the tank. I liked it so much, I took all the original gold logos and painted them red. Then I added a little red pin striping. (I have a spare set of everything, so I can always go back to gold) - but I really like the black and red combo.

My wife is not joining me this year. I have a room with a private bath. If someone wants it, please call the Iron Horse (828-479-3864) and tell them you want a private room. Then let me know and I'll relinquish it. If it doesn't happen soon enough, I'll shift gears and find someone to share it with.

There are a few weeks left and I understand a couple private rooms, bunk house space, and camping spots are still open. If you're in the SE this is the event to attend!

    Hey Mark

When are you leaving for the rally? Will you be driving past Burlington on 40/85? My plan is to leave sometime Friday morning. If you are passing by, I can ride with your entourage. I am riding the FJR1300 and packing all my camping gear.

    XJ Friends,
If there is still anyone "On the Fence" the Iron Horse has the following still available as of this afternoon:

    One(1) Private Room
One(1) Space Remaining in the bunk house.
Plenty of primitive and electric camp sites.

Personally, the private rooms are exceptional! This is a vacation for the wife and I and we enjoy it a great deal. We've stayed in the "Rocky Top" and "Lone Star" those are Hampton Inn quality hotel rooms!

I'll be taking three(3) bikes this year! Last year one of the guys had motor trouble and missed out on Saturday's fun. I'll lend one of mine to anyone in a similar circumstance this year..... hate to see anyone miss out on the fun.....

Next year, my new XJ650 SECA will be along for the rally!!!!

If you're on the fence... GET OFF THE FENCE.... Get that reservation made!

I REALLY Like that color! Darn good looking machine! I look forward to meeting you at the rally! My wife Nancy will be in charge of the check-in desk with all the goodie bags, t-shirts (if you ordered one), there will be a couple raffles of freebies from our vendor friends including some really great items from Len!!

I'm still trying to decide which bikes I'm driving. Unfortunately, my XJ 550 is a bit too small for riding 2-up so it won't attend. I hope to pick up the SECA on Saturday morning and it's definitely not ready for prime-time. I will likely drive this '81 XS1100 UP to Stecoah:
    XS11_DD_051016_4.JPG

I'll drive this 1980 XS1100 around the mountains with Nancy..... (Note the rims? It's got some XJ features!)

    XS11_UD_121916_Bling2a.JPG

And I'll get Lazy and drive this Yamaha home on Monday..... I really don't want any of my Vintage Yamaha friends to see me leaving on this on Monday:;)

    Looking forward to meeting you!

Thanks for the welcome... I also look forward to meeting fellow Maxim (& vintage bike) enthusiasts. The color is mid-90's Mustang Hunter Green
Leaning towards leaving Friday and camping. Is there going to be a bike-corral for bikes for sale?

Kurt, what faring is on that first xs? It looks pretty good! Also, I wouldn't feel based about the fj, that's a fine machine, and when you are riding it in a couple of decades, it'll be vintage too!
