I have done some searching but have not been able to come up with a reason for this.
1982 XJ750J Maxim. I was out today riding and testing out my new installed windshield. I don't seem to have any running or starting issues. I have installed Len's Battery conversion for voltage and the battery is new.
But when sitting at a red light on a high speed road if I take off fast sometime in first gear the warning light will flash once or twice but no indication of fault is shown. I would have thought that a warning light would also show the fault but no indication at all just the red light. Now this is a quick start and the bike is revving up pretty quickly. But after that no light and no other sign of issues.

    Any Ideas?
    thanks in advance
Merry Christmas and a safe holiday to all.

Low oil level, or sticky oil level float.
    Low fuel level.
Loose connection somwhere in the harness.

    Thanks k-moe
Air temp today was 58 would that effect oil?
Changed the oil about 30 Days ago and the oil level looks good.
    Fuel tank is full.
Sticky oil float is a thought.
    Ugh the dreaded wiring harness.

    Temperature won't matter.

Drop 2.5 ounces of Seafoam in the sump and ride it for a few weeks. That should free up the float. It's the most likely cause.

Do you ever see any of the warning indicators come up on the LCD when the bike does its self-check at startup? They should all come on in sequence.

Sounds like someone doesn't realize how good they have it . . . . .

    58 degrees -
Dead stop to power band range as fast as possible -

    Color me jealous.

    ;)

Your right it is oil. Put in the Seafoam and took it for a ride. Had it happen twice. Once on the fast start and this time it flashed 3 times and on the third the oil indicator came on and went right back off. The second time was on a U turn. If I remember right it only flashed red once and it was a faster Uturn as I was on a 45 MPH high way.
I'll do an oil change and see if I may have gotten some moisture in there. The weather here a few weeks ago was very cold at nit and days became very warm and humid. I remember opening the garage door and getting condensation on the bike.
    Thanks again for your input.

I'd wait on the oil change. Let the Seafoam have time to work. Any moisture will be driven off by you riding it.

Just wanted to thank you all again for your help and let you know I found the issue. Turns out a quick start off the line will also cause your break fluid to slosh causing the float to monetarily indict low break fluid. I thought it was oil but turned out to be the break indicater light that showed up on the display. Ending up adding less then an oz to bring it back to level. I had tires put on recently so may have lost a bit when the mechanics changed team. Check all the lines, fittings and break parts all look dry. But after all that I have a clean oil sump and replaced the oil with Shell recommend by KMoe.
    Thanks

Glad you found it. Kind of threw us off when your original post said no indicators were showing up, just the red warning light.

Turns out the red warning light would have to flash three times before the system indicator would light. Most of the time it would only flash once or twice. But the faster I took off the longer it would flash. Kind of a crazy trouble shooting technique.

Ya. The system is sort of weird with the oil lamp. A flash to let you know that the oil is a tad low (usually happens under acceleration), but you won't see it trip the monitor warning on the LCD unless the float stays low, or you're looking at the LCD when it happens.
