So I'm fairly new to working on bikes and came across and issue with my 1981 yamaha 750 I believe it's maxim the guy who sold it to me said it's a seca but I can find a maxim in that year but the issue is that the black plastic piece on the ignition that holds the wired and Cooper pieces broke and I can't find a or part or match for it any wired diagrams or advice would be greatly needed thank you

You could have either a Seca 750 or a Maxim 750, as both were produced.
TECH TOPIC: Model ID and VIN's

By ignition I assume you mean the keyswitch. Start a conversation with Chacal, He has band-new replacements.

Start by reading The Information Overload Hour. Assume that none of the required maintenance has ever been done. Get that all caught up on, and you'll have a very reliable machine.

Iirc, the ignition switch base shape is as follows:

    750 maxim-Basically a triangle-ish shape
    750 seca - basically a "T" sort-of shape

    Relatively speaking

I'm guessing that ignition was hammered out ,that is what will cause that to happen.
Post a pic of your bike and ignition switch and we'll help you Identify the bike and correct switch you need

It has three turn positions and no matter what position it's in nothing lights up I remember when I turned the key before the neutral light always went on

Have you thoroughly investigated the condition of the fuse box? The originals have fuse clips that can fail from age, but look perfectly fine whn viewed from above. Glass fuses can also look perfectly fine, but in a failed state below the metal end where you can't see.
Are you sure that the battery is charged?

check for voltage at the main fuse, and the clips.

check for continuity from main fuse output side to the connector for the ignition key. red wire

then check for continuity from same connector back to the other fuses it should be the brown wire

it was k-moe who told you to check out your fuses, I was telling you how to chase the voltages from battery to ignition switch and back to fuse box.
nice that it turned out to be a blown/bad fuse
