Do one thing for us. Please make this THE thread for your machine. That helps up help you without missing or overlooking your questions.

It never hurts to put a clutch into a used machine.

    When you accelerate:
Does the tach speed up without an increase in road speed?
Does the transmission pop out of second gear?

yes no accelration in road speed but the tach still rises.....amd no it goes into 2nd and stays there...like i said the clutch only grabs in second gear when im decellerating.....other wise all i get is revving and a sliding metallic sound.

You diagnosed correctly then. New friction plates. Only do the steels if they are blue or warped. There is a how-to write up in the DYI section.

it sounds weird to me that the clutch would slip only in second gear, not sure the clutch iiself is the culprit.

Guys.... the clutch is most likely the original. It's due for replacement, slipping or not.
