    Hi everyone!

Just acquired a Seca 550 (and Radian 600 for parts or to restore) and started going over it.
I've been working on an old KZ1000 street fighter project for close to 2 years now and doesn't seem like it's gonna be finished soon, so when these popped up, I had to jump on it as the Seca is very close to roadworthy. Just needs the carbs rebuilt and a clutch cable (already replaced entire front brake setup).

so I have no airbox and using my previous experience with these CV style carbs on my KZ, it's not gonna run right without it, haha. The other issue is that the tank seems to have got a liner applied a while ago and that's in a state of crap! Not sure how to get all this rust and lining out ... can I cut tank apart? it's not been ridden in a few years and is bone dry.

I hung a battery on it and it cranks over decent.

Anyway, hope to find some good advice here; and maybe get a lead on a tank in better condition?

Caswell has a fantastic liner system. MEK will eliminate the old liner. I'd recommend getting the Caswell kit and following the directions religiously.

Follow all the guides and you'll be an XJ expert soon, I have a airbox off a maxim 550 that may fit the seca, not 100% sure on fitment between the two.

Had to take a break from even starting to read up or even looking at bikes haha ... between having my wisdom teeth taken out last week and my turbo truck project that fried it's second high stall torque converter (only one trans yet) ... Had a lot on my head and after finally spending all of today troubleshooting and eventually swapping out to a stock converter, I'm done for a while as the ol' lady is getting pissed off hahahahah I'll start reading and taking apart and ordering stuff I guess

Probably not. The Radian uses the Maxim frame.

I've always loved the lines of the Radian, that's a pretty bike

Well I took the Redian Carbs off and started disassebling them to be cleaned. Found two carbs that the float posts were broken and JB welded back together ... well they popped when I tried taking the pins off ... I guess I have to borrow two carbs from the XJ ... or just rebuild the XJ carbs as originally planned. Gonna have to takes notes on the Jetting. I think I remember the Seca carbs having a 120 main jet

All XJ frames look the same (aside from the exceptions). The differences are small, and I did say "probably not," not definitely not.

Yes the starter has to come off to get the airbox out without damaging it, along with the carbs, intake boots, and battery box.

Thanks for the info, I may just end up rebuilding the SECA Carbs. They were much dirtier than the Radian carbs, hence deciding to build these ... I guess I'll start taking the SECA carbs apart and soaking them instead.
