This is my first bike, and I'm looking to build a rat scrambler. Shes a 82 750 maxim and has a lot of electronics on her. Looks like there's a commadore 64 on top of my forks! What all of that is really necessary? I'd really like to get down to just a speedo. Anybody else cut out all that junk?

Removing features from the most advancd motorcycle of the time..... so be it I guess. It's your bike.

Here's the wiring mods to remove the rectangular instruments

A few members have build housings for the systems monitor so it looks good with round gauges. Another relocated it to under the seat so it was still useful, and put a smaller warning light next to the speedometer so he'd know when he was really low on fuel, or oil, or had a headlight fail during the day.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction fellas, that thread is just what I needed. I'm takin care of some body work/mods first but cleaning up those electronics is definitely something I'm trying to get done before riding season!

Vic 20 was my first PC as well. It had an 8Kb upgrade RAM cartridge and a cassette drive. Then, I upgraded to the C-64 with dual 5.25" floppies and an 800 baud modem. This is what I learned to program hex-dec on...

Gotta love the GEOS operating system...
