My XJ is my favorite bike, hands down. In the past several years I've came across these other two contraptions and have had a blast wrenching them into what they are now.

The learning curve with other bikes seems to lessen as they all have similar attributes and caveats. Nonetheless, it's what I seem to enjoy doing these days with the support of forums such as this one with all its colorful characters. Thanks to everyone.

Being a sucker for thumpers myself, I love the Savage conversion. I'm sure you're aware of RYKA Motors and Jay Leno's episode.

My first new bike was a Buel blast with a Kerker pipe was so loud had to wear ear plugs... I ' d always had 4 cylinder and v twins , so this THUMPER was fun for a 500 it actually went well . Put 11000 miles before I sold it to a coworker I tought how to ride, I miss the little bastard. Not trying to hijack thread just reminising.

I purchased a few things from RYCA. I converted from belt to chain drive using their swap kit. I copied their seat pan design also.
I did see the Jay Leno episode of him testing the converted bikes. I'm in agreement with his summary of the bikes: They make you smile when you're riding them because they are so simple in design.

The LS650 has had no design changes since its inception back in 1986. 31 years, that's what sold me. I paid $650 for a 2006 model with 2500 miles. It had sat for 5 years, rebuilt the single carb, new oil and stuff, fired right up. They still sell them as of this date. They are dependable and parts are inexpensive as well as available.
