It shouldn't get water in the tank unless you leave the cap OPEN. The paint will fade and steel fasteners will rust if you leave it out in the weather though.

Wouldn't hurt to drain it, if there's water in it then it probably has rust also and in the carbs as well. That means you need to clean the carbs!
If the rain was really hard the plug wires and coils are likely to be wet as well so it's not going to start until that's all dried out. You can check for a spark with a spark tester or just by using an old plug laying on top of the cylinders to see if it fires. Better plan to leave lots of time over the weekend for carb cleaning though.

Disconnect fuel line from fuel valve. Put a piece of fuel line on going to a suitable container on the ground. Turn fuel valve to PRI.

    Water is heavier than fuel.
If you want to check for water in the fuel and if your float bowl drain screws turn, just open them up and collect what comes out.
Let it sit for a bit and see if you can spot water in the bottom.
If you find water then I would drain the fuel tank as MiCarl pointed out.

Is it possible to bring it inside overnight to warm it up.?
I know it sounds a bit off but if you can get the whole bike up to "room temp" you may be in for a pleasent surprise...
