    Will these old bikes pass a state run emmissions inspection ? I have a 82 xj 1100

    No U.S. state requires motorcycles to be inspected for emissions.
    The one state that did (Arizona) quickly found out how much of a headache that is, and dropped the requirement.

    See Appendix C for the exemption in Maryland.

    Its a relief if it doesn't have to I have my bike registered as historical to dodge that stuff but yer only suppose to ride it in parades and stuff well I parade around quite a bit I hope can continue ?? It would be nice to reg ligit someday in case I get a shake down someday , knock on wood !

    You don't have to register it as a historical vehicle in irder to skip emissions testing. All motorcycles are exempt. All years, all makes, all models.

    What the historical designation gets you is much lower registration fees (one-time-only in many states), and a lower insurance permium.
    I know guys that hold official club events every weekend. Their insurers never ask to see the mileage (though some insurers will), and it doesn't seem to matter that there is only one member in the club.

    To answer your question, though, yes, these bikes will pass eCheck. I lived in AZ when they required the check. As long as the carbs are in good shape, it's not a problem.
