    Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if there is a positive way to find out if there is fuel getting into the crankcase other than just smell?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

Your schnoz is about the most sensitive tool there is for gasoline.

If your oil level goes up you're getting gas in there, unless your neighbor likes to go around adding oil to bikes.

Well, I changed the oil tonight, I will keep an eye on the level.

I don't think that damn bike shop did the oil change I asked them to do! 2500kms and the oil looked like it had been in the crankcase for a decade and black as Aunt Jemima's face!

Also I would like to say the oil smelled a bit like gas. I have been told by a couple of bike shops that it is normal for it to smell a bit like gas, opinions?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

It is pretty common for the oil to smell like gas, but NOT normal.

I assure you, mine smells just like oil.

    Not common.
    Oil should smell like oil.
    Not Gas.

Keep an I on the Window. If the level goes up; look for a Fuel Leaking-by Petcock or Bad Carb Floats ... or, Both!
