Are the sleeves on a MC jacket supposed to be so long?

I wish I had a pic, but I went to the local Rural King store and tried on a new jacket. The sleeves were snug around the forearms and my fingers barely reached the end of the sleeve. I had to push them up just to get my hands out. I may be dumb, but is a Motorcycle jacket supposed to fit like this?

I would put that one back on the hanger and keep looking.
My Joe Rocket jacket has "normal" sleeve length!

Sounds like the one you had on was a bit long for you.

They should be a bit longer than you would have on a "standard" jacket and curved slightly. This lets you assume riding position without fighting the sleeves. In that position the cuffs should fall to your wrist.

My sleeves run about 1 inch beyond the wrist with arms at my sides. Fall right at the wrist in riding position.

You may want to try jackets while on a bike to make sure they feel comfortable and fit right when in riding position.

my leather jacket actually runs to about my knuckles when im standing straight up with arms to my side. when i ride they go back to my wrists so yeah mine is pretty long. but not so long that my fingers barely exit the sleeves. The real test is just t put your arms up like your riding the motorcycle and see where the sleeves stop.

I wish I had that problem, every jacket I try on seens like a short sleeve . I have been looking for a new jacket for a year and can't find on to fit. I guess that's a problem when you are 6'4" and 270lbs. But with your arms extended in the riding position the sleeves should be at your wrist. Mine always come up a few inches short.

Unfortunately there's no standardization in MC clothing. You can check a Dennis Kirk catalog for generalizations and size differences between brands, but as has been repeated 1000 times, "try it before you buy it".
That being said, all of my gear has come from eBay (without trying 1st). I have had 5 size Large jackets. from 5 different companies, and ALL have fit differently. Some have slightly longer sleeves to fit while in a "standard" riding position, some have not. Some were skin-tight, one was too big/loose. Here's what I found:
Icon-Sized for tall, thin riders. Very snug at the waist and chest. Also snug on the arms, yet the arms are extended in length. Some have referred to this as "European sizing".
1st Racing-Runs big/baggy for size. But sleeves seem to be standard (not extended)length.
Z1R-Almost perfect/classic motorcycle (SLIGHTLY snug, SLIGHTLY extended length sleeves) "size Large" fit .
LBZ-Similar to the Icon, maybe a hair looser.
