Hi all, just picked up my XJ900F and made the trip from Wisbech down to Brighton with a smile growing wider by the mile! First big bike for ten years, it's all coming flooding back.

Quick question - oil cooler is weeping from the matrix, what are my options? Found a universal cooler on fleabay - dimensions look about right, reckon I can fab brackets without too much bother, but can anyone tell me offhand what dimensions the pipe fittings are? Away from my workshop for a week or two, so can't measure them just now. Cheers, and thanks in advance.

Thanks Stu. My cooler seems to be about 9" x 4", and a helpful chap at xj4ever has just emailed me to say the pipe threads are M20 x 1.50 pitch, so if your dimensions are roughly that and the fittings are 20mm across, we could be in business. I'm looking at generic coolers on ebay which look like they'd fit but they're all BSP or JIC and I'm having a high old time trying to find female 1/2" bsp to male M20 adapters, so if XJ600 will fit, I'll keep my eye out for a decent secondhand. Thanks for the help, Jim

Spanner size tells you nothing about the thread size and pitch.
I can say that it takes a long time for Yamaha to abandon a standard though. I'd be highly surprised if the fitttings are any different ebtween your two machines.

    yep, my thoughts exactly.
if op's pipe unions are 22mm , and he gets a Yamaha cooler , its odd's on they'll be the same

If you're happy to fit a used xj600 cooler why not just find a correct, used xj900f cooler?

In fact I've tracked down the right thread adaptors, so gone for a new cooler with BSP threads. The secondhand coolers I've seen on eBay all look pretty mullad, I figure it's worth the work to make a new one fit. Picking the new cooler up tomorrow, will post pics when it's fitted. Cheers
