Unfortunately its a lot of work.. although it looks like mother nature helped a bunch and the clear coat is mostly gone from the parts. Bad news is once you polish the pieces you have to constantly upkeep the polish, or they'l dull over time. Know what to paint and what to polish. Fins take a lot of love and patience but it can be done. Most side covers are good to polish, but the main case would take a lot of work to polish so its best to leave it painted.

Once polished, respray with clear, or wax it.

The patina makes it look rustic.

20170325_134148.jpg far from perfect but after a few minutes with a buffing pad on a drill and blue magic polishing cream it looks a million times better:)

    Oh now you've done it.
Plan on pulling the engine so you can repaint the frame too.
    And the exhaust.
    And....

    sigh.

This might become an addiction. I want to make everything shiny.... I need to get this thing running so i can remember that i bought a motorcycle to ride not to clean.

The first pic you posted CLEARLY shows the reflection of your brake pedal in the side of the engine. You couldn't be happy with that? Just remember YOU opened the box!

    Oh, Pandora...

That could be one of the educational sessions at CNYCC#10. I can see the seminar listing now... "How to shave roadside using only a YICS tool, bearing grease and your reflection in your highly polished engine case."

    Before and after
I'm liking the VHT brake caliper clear coat. After a good sand and polish, 2 or 3 coats then bake in the oven for one hour at 200f ( after you wife goes to bed)

Some areas like the large clutch cover actually stay pretty shiny for a long while after polishing with Mothers Aluminum polish.

Looks great. I'm hearing that you need to use an old oven that won't be used for food tho.

They say wait a few hour after it's dry to the touch. No smell at all in oven
