    Just looking for a battery side cover for my 82 750 Maxim. Not too concerned about condition.

    Sadly, ebay is chock full of left side panels, and the only right side panel I've found online was absurdly priced. Anyone have a spare kicking around anywhere?

    I guess it depends on what you consider "absurd". If you think $35.00 is absurd, your right------that's absurdly LOW. If your think $135.00 is absurd, you're wrong----that's in te ballpark.

    What price range are you trying to stay in?

    I have a right side cover that I had off and was going to paint/ and or modify from an 83 Maxim, that I am pretty sure is exactly the same for an 82.

    Fair enough. I was expecting around the prices people are asking for the left side panels (which are generally $50-60cdn on ebay). I can appreciate that the right side panel is clearly harder to find, and people want more for it as a result.

    If I can't find one at a lower cost, that's fine, and I'll have to figure out something else (hence the thread in the Modifications section asking for ideas :) ). I'm not really set on a bone-stock look, so if I have to go that route, that's perfectly ok.

    I have always been curious why there are so many left side covers, but so few right side covers for sale on ebay. My right side cover is a more faded because of the side stand lean. Perhaps the plastic was damaged by sun UV on more right side than left sides?

    I always thought it was because it was removed more often to get to the battery so the tabs got broken more

    Duh, thought of that sometime after I posted above...guess I was fixated on the fact that the paint on mine is faded more than the other side, so was thinking about UV.

    Have you ever seen a jack or spare/flat tire on the side of the road?

    with the right side being taken off to check battery, charge battery, check solenoid the cover ends up on the ground left behind , stepped on or just broken from constant removal.

    What xj550h is saying is that the right side covers are becoming a bit rare. Holding out for the perfect match might take a while.
