85 Maxim X info needed

    I am trying to find out if anyone knows what fuel tank from other models will interchange with an 85 Maxim X ?

    Depends if you want to fabricate it, or just slap a new one directly on....

    I think "interchange" means he's not looking to fabricate...

    I'm pretty sure the only models that share the same tank are the '85 and '86 MaximX and the XJ700 Maxim non-X of the same years. Virago tanks look the same but I've been told that the mounts are slightly different.

    If anyone knows of another direct swap please post! I'd also be interested in that info.

    That is the only bolt on one I have been able to find. Everything else either needs some masssaging or major fabricating.

    In the last 6 months, I think I have only seen 1 on e-bay. I haven't seen them come across for this model a lot and never really cheap. You might be able to find one in need of repair cheap. If I can ask, What is wrong with yours that it can't be repaired?
