And there's the police model, which could very well be in Tasmania.

These are the many reasons why a picture works best for identifying the 750.

WELL--- then there's the 750 that looks like the 650r non-turbo

    And

The xj750D, the fuel-Injected clone of the 650 turbo ........

Went there and it told me it is an American XJ550 which is not correct, Australian compliance tag shows XJ750 , I think I am getting confused between American name XJ750 Seca and what is called XJ750R in Australian, does that sound right

They are both the same thing. two different terms for the same bike… We use them interchangeably-for us The letter R designates the seca model.

The 550 models are completely different. There is no way to confuse the two. One big difference, for example-the 550 models are chain Drive, your 750 is a shaft drive.

    For comparing:
    xj550 seca ( 550r )

    xj550 maxim

    xj750 seca ( xj750r )

Could I bother you for the vin you entered? If there is an issue with site I would like to fix it.

My VIN didn't tally up either when I used the dissinger site.
I checked my vin manually and came up with an 83 650K Maxim but the site tells me it's a 80 550 Maxim :/

Any chance you could provide me with the VIN you entered? I assume, since you both got a 550 Maxim, that it isn't recognizing something and spitting back a "default" value. Are you using the shorty one or the full VIN search?

Edit: I actually made some changes that I thought I had before, could you try it again?

Looks like you are right, that shows up as an American 650 as you describe. I wonder what the story is there, guess someone must have really liked the maxim styling!

Your vin worked on the site for me, maybe the update I did fixed it. Is it working for you now?

I've been looking at it on my phone- will try to remember later when I'm on the laptop in case my browser is too lazy and is used a cached version or something (get me pretending to know what I'm talking about).
    Here's what I'm getting...

Thanks! I appreciate you checking. It is possible it is using a cached version.
