I've been looking every where and I cant find the alternative front fork springs for my 1983 xj750 maxim. The ones progressive used to make for my model are no longer in production. I know chacal sells some but I want to shop around to find the best deal since I'm on a small budget and there still more things I need to buy and do to my bike. My question is what are other progressive springs that will work for my bike.

There's many that will work, but the ones from Len will work RIGHT.

An old trick and cheap is to fabricate a 1/2 inch long spacer on top of the spring . You could try pvc or galvinized pipe the same diameter as the spring. It will make it a little harder to push caps down but will firm up the springs.

Ok so does you bike have air forks ? Play around with fork oil weight, volume add an extra 10-20 cc ,air pressure etc.

Edgar, I have a good set of springs from a xj-1100, not sure if they cross match with the 750, check with the site experts. You can have them no charge, I see your in Houston. Its very important to have the correct amount and weight of oil in your forks, again check the site for 750 specs. Send me an e-mail msg if you need them.

Anyone know if I can gain an extra inch out of my front fork on my 82 750 Maxim for my scrambler build?
