Here are a few photos of my hardcase luggage mod for my 1985 XJ 700. I picked up the cases off of ebay (new) for about $100. A good friend of mine designed and built the rack. I will post better pictures in the near future. I am happy to say that I'm pleased with the finished product.

FYI - No permanent changes have been made to the bike other than the exhaust tip angle (down and out). The cases are easily removed and the rack can be taken off with the removal of several bolts and the turn signals can be returned to their original location.

wow that mounting system is great, I know some guys dont dig bags but once you have em you cant ever go back, its nice to always have the raincoat, the tool kit, the first aid kit, the flat repair kit, the mini air compressor etc... they will be full quick i bet. thanks for sharing. are you gonna color match? givi trunk?

I wont be painting the luggage. If I did, the rack would stick out. As it is now, I believe the rack and luggage system blends together plus I think it balances the black seat, rims, and frame.

No trunk on this bike. Still want to preserve the XJ look plus my wife loves the feel of the angled back sissybar set up as is. I would include a photo of the bike with soft luggage but I'm getting an error message that states -
