Hi all! I have an 82 XJ550J and I notice that there is a small broken tensioning spring that sits on the push lever shaft, just under the push lever. It appears that it might tension against the push lever? I have had no problems, but would like to replace it if it needs to be replaced. Obviously it is broken, but I am not sure how important it is? How hard to replace? Looks like you would be messing with a spline lining up job there on the push lever parts. Not sure how it mounts exactly either; where the other end of the spring attaches. I cannot seem to find this part in the parts list anywhere, and am not sure what to call it. Should I just ask Chacal or someone have some ideas? Thanks for your help.

That the clutch pivot shaft return spring, you DO want to replace it. The top of the shaft and the arm have a locating mark/notch in them to guide you in re-assembly (but, use a sharpie, etc. to draw an alignment mark across the two pieces before dis-assembly. Not hard to replace, it will become obvious where the spring retention arm fits once you have a new spring!
