slipping out of gear

    O neutraly guys I know it's late I'm on the East Coast and Delaware was almost 3 a.m. I have a 1983 XJ 750 MK midnight Maxim I did a stupid thing I replace the clutches because it was slipping out of gear and a set of measuring the thickness of the clutches I just assumed it's 34 years old and it was time to replace them put new clutches in no difference at all as like you don't it really hard off the line before I sit down a first gear it'll automatically jump inToneutral I was told that the shift Forks inside the trans for the synchronizer drum arm a real cheap and a probably worn have you guys experienceD that on the 83 750 Maxim or am I just the lucky one

    thanks XJ 550 hI apologize for the message if you can tell this is the first time on any form for me and believe it or not I'm 58 and the first time on emailLOL I've had the bike since day one brand new never had a problem with the engine or trans so I was getting ready to rip the engine out and break the case apart and check for the shift Forks wear never thought of of checking the springs hope to start working on it this coming week I need to pull the carbs and we build them I'm trying to find out how to get a hold of chacal I need to order some throttle shaft seals and throttle plate stainless steel screws don't know how to get them from him have to order them I already have rebuilding kits with new Jets and mister screws but I need those parts to do a complete rebuild job thank you for the advice on the center I will let you know what I find when I get to it have you can give me any advice have to order those carburetor parts from chacal will be greatly appreciate it whatever I figure out how to post pictures on the forearm I will post some pictures of the bike

    The most common issue is broken shift linkage springs, but it is possible that the 2nd gear engagement dogs are worn. One step at a time though.

    you guys on here are the best you know everything I know I made the right decision to sign up on here and get with the times I love pie and bacon but I prefer Seagram 7 LOL thanks appreciate it

    see where it says INBOX at top right of bage just below thw xj4ever logo? put your cursor over inbox and a screen will drop down you will see Start a conversation click that and the form will pop up.

    Thanks yea iam still wet behind the ears when it comes to internet and email LOL haven't been on for like 10 years I got tired of all the bs and spending half my life on the computer 1012 hours a day but since today you can't do anything without email or the internet nobody picks up the phone anymore can't call anybody on the phone to order anything I figured it's time to get with the rest of the world now and get back on the computer I also have a hard time getting a hold of chacal he did message me last night and told me to click on the Knick to the left of his name I don't see any Nick to the left of his name like I said I have no idea I don't know how I got a hold of them got a message to him the first time but he wanted to know what year my bike was and what I needed so if you can help me feel better they try to send him a message or email that would be perfect

    by the way I don't know if that's the reason why I'm having problems I'm out in the Boondocks here in Delaware no internet service to where I live so my only computer is on my cell phone for email and internet service
