Being an order bike, the more I ride, the more little things come up.. (sounds familiar ?)
Last couple of rides my kickstand sensor won't disengage. When I click into gear, bike stops. Sometimes a couple up-downs of the stand and it's corrected. Lately it's needed the removal, tapping, and reinstall of the sensor, or a nearby piece of concrete and knock it a few times.
Anyone had this issue and any fixes, other than replacement ?

I have similar issue every couple of years on my XJ550. As Stumplifter stated, clean with electrical contact cleaner. I just kind of pry the rubber boot open enough to get the tube to spray inside. Removing the switch from the frame helps. Follow up with a switch/pot lubricant from Radio Shack.

When mine sticks, if I reach down and give the metal piston a tug, the bike will start. Time to clean it again.

unpluging the sidestand relay will fix the problem on the road or disconnect the blackwhite wire on the tci it is a bullet connector and has a boot on it, but you really need to clean it as suggested. It is there so you do not forget to lift the side stand and take a left hand turn which can cause you some bad issues.

everyone has this problem from time to time

I tend to clean mine as part of my pre-winter maintainance. I did use a dry-film silicone lubricant the last time, and haven't had problems with it sticking (well I will now won't I; jinx) for two years, so that was skipped last winter.

I sprayed a silicone lube and it helped, although still not 100%. The rubber boot is torn so moisture gets in. I had a couple incidents where the bike stopped running (once on highway and once at intersection). Not safe.. I'm going to order a new one just to make sure it doesn't happen again.

For now, to remove that black wire on the TCI, is it behind one of the round aluminum covers ?

Never mind, found it under side cover.
