My 1982 650 maxim (YICS) requires a new IC Ignitor as plugs 2 & 3 don't spark. The unit I took off is type TID14-06 5G2-10, #109. Is this correct as when searching eBay UK, it shows this being off a 750 seca. Will a unit off the UK spec XJ650 fit?
    Engine # 5N8-015346
    Thanks.

if plugs 2 and 3 do not spark it is your ignition coil or pickup coils that are likely the problem
ohm out the pickup coils ohm out the ignition coil.

you could also test ignition coil by swapping the wires from coil to other cylinders to see if problem follows coils.

swap the primary connectors to the coils then swap sparkplug wires from 1 & 4 to 2 &3.

looks like the 82 650 and 750 use the same ignightor

I have swapped orange and grey wires over going in to Ignitor, 1&4 still sparked, put back to std, then swapped over wires leaving Ignitor, 2&3 sparked, also swapped wiring in to coils, definitely the IC Ignitor. Just been to my local dealer, he has given me the same part number as you, thanks, now only problem is finding one in the UK, or importing one from the states. I can try a few breakers over here and eBay.
    Thanks

I had a bike that was bad on 1/4, thought it was a coil, but turned out to be the tci.... swapped it and problem gone. So it may be the coil
