Do the front flashers have a wire ground or are they just grounded to the frame?

depends on the bike easy way to tell is if you only have 1 wire coming from bulb holder and when you remove the lens you see a braided copper strap about 1/8" wide from bulb holder to blinker housing.
I have a 83 750 like this and the older 650 can be like this.

Thanks! I can't figure out the turn signal system that's on my bike (80 650 maxim). I think I'll just put an entirely new system on, run my own words and stuff and use the original switch haha i can't do the whole chasing wires thing

What is the problem with yours? It may be a simple fix before going and redoing everything

the blinker is clamped to the mount on the bike and sometimes has to be removed and cleaned you can test this with a jumper wire from ground to the blinker housing

So the guy I got the bike from repainted it and took everything off without labeling anything. The rears were pretty easy to figure out. I hooked those up but they would only stay on constant. I assumed the circuit needed more resistance so I tried every possible configuration with the front leads to open connectors behind the headlights. None of them worked. All the bulbs are good. the connections on the blinker Relay under the tank are hooked up. The main wiring harness got left on for the paint job too.

Have you taken the cover off of the signal relay and cleaned the points?
    Is your battery fully charged?
Are you using 27 watt bulbs?

Looks like I have 23 watt in the front, it looked like 32 watt bulbs in the rear. I'll try some 27 watters

It was the wire connections to the contractors the switch they were broken off. I don't know how that gave me power in the rears but not the fronts.

The best part is I tightened the valve chain tensioner while I was at it because the bikes sluggish at high rpms and now it's clacking really bad even with the tensioner bolt back to how I had it originally

When I open the throttle up, even in 2nd but super sensitive in 4th and 5th, it's like hitting wet grass with a lawn mower.
