    Hi
I have had to dismantle my front suspension as it was leaking, the tubes need to be rechromed so i need to completely dismantle them.
I have the chrome tubes out and on the bench.
There is a lower outer metal bushing that still needs to come off and there seems to be a cap attached to a internal sleeve that holds the internal metal bushing.
My question is - does this just need to be knocked out?
Sorry i am at work so no images :(
    Thanks

The Teflon-coated bushes just slide off (you have to expand them slightly at their "split" to gain enough clearance. The internal sleeve should stay in place.

Is there a purpose for that internal sleeve? The diameter is much larger than the damper rod - maybe oil control?

I seem to remember one set of forks I had it was present, the other it was not. If I remember correctly it was the set off an 81 Seca that it was missing and present on the 82.

if you are trying to save them, which you probably are I am not sure you can buy those??

blind hole puller and likely some heat on the chrome tube.

Ok, update is I spoke to the chromers again and they say they can stay in there? I dont know maybe they coat them with something so the chrome doesnt bond to them or maybe cause theyre alloy??
