Rubber bushing

    I'm in the parking lot heading into work so I can't give any pictures unfortunately

    I am in the process of trying to locate the rubber fork bushings for my 82seca 750 with the anti dive option. The rubber pieces I'm referring to are the ones directly underneath the upper triple tree and above the air inlet valve.

    I know I don't have enough knowledge on these bikes yet, but I'm at a loss as to what purpose they even serve for the bike. Is it for adjustment when fitting the forks into the tree???

    Knowledge needed here

    I'm sure they're for sale here thru chacal and I'll look this evening if I get the chance

    Just really wanting to know what they are for

    They help to locate the air collar on the fork. Without the bushings the air collar fit would have to be machined to a tighter tolerance, and be more expensive to make. It also helps to reduce noise and wear caused by vibration.

    Excellent news then. I'll have to dig into the catalog then and see if chacal still sells them as my local Yamaha dealer said they are unobtanium now

    Chacal should. That sucks, since those parts were still in the Yamaha catalog about year ago.

    Welp. I hope I did this correctly. Sent a conversation to chacal with a part number. I suppose I'll hear back then soon with a total price and such for it. HCP 15652. X2. Looked right to me

    And as far as my local Yamaha dealer I wouldn't trust them too far as they've got new counter sales/parts guys every other week it seems

    I never order through my local dealer anymore. They stopped stocking parts (even common ones) a few years ago. Need an oil filte for anything more than 5 years old? They'll order it; ready for pick up in two weeks.

    Isn't that the truth. I had actually ordered the cushion gaskets thru them a week ago from a different parts guy. Called me today to tell me they were in now. Surprisingly enough I had the sense to have him check the part befor I drove the 40miles to there. And they'd received some steel washers. Hahaha

    That's when I found out they're unobtanium through them now. Easy peasy through xj4ever is what I'm expecting to have happen as I hear nothing but raving and zero ranting

    It makes absolutely no sense to even try to go to a dealer for these bikes........Len has EVERYTHING, and it is only about two days away from ordering date (for me anyway)..........well, except the handlebar YAMAHA emblem for my Seca 750 :)

    I am beginning to understand your statement. Just happy that I've got another bike to ride for the time being. And may possibly have a third seca here very soon. Not sure why people start a project and then stop 1/4 through it. Supposedly only has 18k on the Odometer but when the Odometer is non existent it's hard to tell. Lol. We shall see if this follows me home to sit next to my other 2
