    Hello there,

I just purchased an xj900 to turn into a cafe/street fighter style of bike. I was hoping you guys could shed some light on a few problems i've encountered. I have the full front fairing off and fairing bracket but i was wondering where i could re-route some pieces.

Once the fairing is off all these air induction pieces are sticking off the front? Has one big tube running to a silver thing and then its connected to a lower part that has two tubes coming off of it. Does the bike have to have them to run as in can i remove them and loop some of the hoses or do i need to relocate it all?

Cheers, and thanks for the help!

That appears to be a newer XJ that is quite a bit different than the original XJs this site primarily supports.
That said, I wouldn't assume those parts are there for no reason. Do you have a repair manual for the bike? Those bikes were produced up till '04, so there should be literature available (I'd think).

The hoses and valve are part of emission control system. You need to check your local laws to see if you need them or not.

Whhoah - there some weird sh!t and no mistake. Try xjrider.com for all things related to Diversions (Seca2s) - most stuff here is pre 1990.

As mentioned above, all the pipes you are looking at are emission related. You can remove them all right down to the head and bolt up the intake holes without any issue as far as engine performance is concerned (they are exhaust port air intakes similar to Kawasaki's KLEEN system). If you look at the 600 Diversion you'll see they didn't have them.

Whether its a legality issue where you live is another matter, though.
