I spent a month, off and on, doing the front brakes on my xj750 seca project and spilled a whole lot of brake fluid. I took paint off the forks, calipers, anti dives, valve covers, headers and frame. No problem, I can repaint.
What I need to know is, how do I neutralize the brake fluid on these surfaces before I sand and repaint ? Is there a specialised solvent or common cleaner that will do the job?

A good detergent and water will get most of it. Brake fluid (DOT 3,4) mixes with water. Follow up with something to remove any residual grease, alcohol or a commercial paint-prep degreaser as you would normally.
