Hey XJers, I have been off the forum for several months. Wondering if there has been any posts or talk about the new Scrambler.

It's not a modern Maxim, but still nice to see an attempt at something more street/standard.

I haven't been on the scrambler, but the Bolt felt cramped in comparison to my 750 Seca. The engine is nice though. I'd think that the scrambler would be more comfortable, but it's still really a steet bike IMO (I do remember the scramblers of the 70's, so I'm comparing the 950 to them).

I do like the scrambler and, if I were in the market for a new bike, it would definitely be on the list. What would be really great is if they got the xjr1300 over here. I haven't heard any experience with the scrambler outside of a few magazine/site reviews, so I have no idea whether or not I would like it. From the reception here it sounds like the Aztec of bikes...

It seems that much of the Yamaha heritage sport lineup is just playing dress up. More about looking performance than actual performance. I'm sure the vtwin makes good power, but the triple in the xsr900 would be my choice. I just wish that things like "the aluminum shrouded fuel tank" that they brag about were actually a metal tank.

I'm not a huge fan if all the plastic either. For sure there is a lot of primarily cosmetic changes in that line, but I kind of like that, especially if it spawns a robust aftermarket parts market. Kind of like the Seca vs Maxim styling differences.

It would please a lot of people if one of the models came with some chrome... try finding a new bike that isn't blacked out! The only cruiser/heritage model in yamaha's lineups is the 250. I don't mind the black, but everything? C'mon guys! Over at the Rebel forum, they call em YABOB, yet another blacked out bike.

It looks ok on the surface but the finish materials are cheap and at nearly 550 pounds, it's a pig and I hate riding pigs.....so no thank you.

You could buy two and have a spare parts bike straight from the dealership!!!!! That is truly crazy -

That's what you would pay for a decent used Shadow around here. I knew Japanese bikes weren't selling well lately, but that's CRAZY!

Sounds like its off my consideration list then! I am not interested in more flash than fun. Thanks for the feedback.

Gnat, i saw a 1300 last month in the Netherlands, posted earlier, and agree that would be great to see here.

Plus, the Scrambler has the real metal parts I was longing for in the xsr.

For that price, I would look for sure. Just wish it was a 3 or 4 instead of a V-Twin.
Is it the same setup that is in the Bolt?

I think it's a redressed bolt, with higher seat, remote reservoir shocks, different bars, ect. I sat on both the bolt and scrambler, and prefer the low seat of the bolt. In the bike as opposed to on top, felt more one with the bolt.
