    Hi guys
bought a xj750 seca as my first bike ever, really excited about it.
I bought as a DIY bike since the last owner had it for 10 years and hasnt been running the past 4 weeks and dont know why.
have been trying everything (according to my knowledge) but havent found the problem.
right now im just trying to get it started and need some help.
    Battery is fine (12.7V)

i have several questions and dont even know where to start, how do i remove the fuel tank?
how do i remove the screws under the start button on the right handle?

cant post any links to the pics, whats up with that?????

    hope someone has the answers.

You've been given advice specific to the side stand. What I gave you is infomation about everything else. You will need to become familliar with the whole machine, so you can do a thorough inspection and refurbishment.

The first pic is the connector for the turn-signal auto-cancel unit. It may have failed and been removed to allow the tun signals to function. It can be left as-is, or you an look for a used, working, unit.

Does thehe fusebox have no fuses in it!? The inline blade fuse shouldn't be there. There are other splices that are concerning, so me of which may be related to the problem you are having.

All of the crosshead screws on the bike are made to the JIS standard. You will need a JIS screwdriver to remove them without damageing the heads. It looks like someone used a Phillips screwdriver on them in the past, and damaged them. You may need a hand-impact driver to get them out.

The fuel and vacuum lines to the petcock look like they are the oiginals. Remove the clamps and give the lines a twist to help them break free. If they don't come free, just cut them off. They will need to be replaced anyway.

That pinch-bolt should not have backed out (it is a critical item). Between it and the wiring, it is safe to assume that you cannot trust the work done by any prior owner. This machine is now you winter project, and should not be ridden until it has been thoroughly inspected, and all issues have been addressed.

Welcome ..you really need to follow what kmoe says he will be most helpful. Another item look at upper right corner click on xj4ever. This is chacal he sells new parts for our bikes to order start a private IM message. Any part ordered will be correct unlike what is on eBay . One item you need to address is taking carbs to church of clean. Resist taking your bike to a mechanic ...you will become the best mechanic if you do the work and save you money. Many times most dealers will not touch our bikes due to lack of knowledge and parts. Hear many stories of folks taking bikes to dealer and being turned away. That is why I do all my own work:D of course it help I am an Aircraft mechanic for the last 30 years. Good luck keep us informed.

You don't need a new pinch bolt. It's not boken; it's just loose.
Slow down. Take the time to read up on the machine, and (given you question about the bolt) how to work on machinery.
If you have a community college nearby, I suggest signing up for a small-engine, or automotive maintenance course before diving in to fixing you motorcycle.
Doing things incorrectly on a car can leave you sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow tuck. Doing things incorectly on a motorcycle can leave you laying in the road wating for an ambulance.

shirali, Welcome to the forum, the post above are just letting you know that we want you to make your bike safe before you jump on and head down the road. You sound fired up to get at it, and trust me all the folks on here understand that. Becoming familiar with your bike and all the connection and little (and some bigger) things that need to be done before you ride is all we are getting at.

Reading those links in k-moes signature are more of a mandatory read now that you have the xj. Most of your questions will be taken care of while reading through that information. There is a lot of info there and it will take sometime to read through it but all worth the effort.

Again, welcome to the site and hope that you keep that fire for working on your bike, it will all come together once you take the time and take it slow and safe. You have a great bike on your hands.
