    Hey guys,
I picked up a load of parts yesterday, and want to get rid of it all. It's mostly two complete bikes (minus gas tanks and one frame).

I have two complete motors, one frame (no title), two racks of carbs, 5 rear struts, 2 sets of wheels, 2 sets of front forks, front brake calipers, swingarms, 2 sets of gauges, cables, ECUs, wiring harnesses. exhaust...

I have a couple boxes I haven't even gone through yet. If you want anything, shoot me a message and we can work something out. Buyer will pay shipping from 40503, so I'll be very reasonable on prices - I don't need any of it.

Sorry - I'm new to bikes in general and am pretty ignorant. Thanks for that resource! I found a very lengthy explanation of the VINs, but had a hard time reading it...

    Here are the VIN results:

    Silver valve cover engine:
    VIN INFO:
    World Manufacturer Identifier: J = Japan, Y=Yamaha, A= Motorcycle
    Vehicle Characteristics 4H700 = 1981 XJ650 Maxim USA
    Check Digit: 4
    Model Year: B = 1981
Assembly Plant: A = Iwata City Production Facility
    Serial Number: 111825

    Black valve cover engine:
    VIN INFO:
    World Manufacturer Identifier: J = Japan, Y=Yamaha, A= Motorcycle
    Vehicle Characteristics: 5N800 = 1982 XJ650 Maxim USA
    Check Digit: 1
    Model Year: C = 1982
Assembly Plant: A = Iwata City Production Facility
    Serial Number: 027787

The number I put in was the short VIN on the motor. Matches the VIN on the frame. Am I reading the wrong number? Maybe someone swapped covers at some point? Here is a pic:

    They are both xj650 engines.
The black one is the later YICS engine, the silver is the earlier non-YICS engine.

The rims in pic 4 are not xj. They are from xs Specials and from Hondas.

The 7 spoke mags don't look xj either. And the bike in the second last picture that says Honda on the tank looks like a Honda.;)

Thanks! I didn't realize those were XS - they just came with the rest so I assumed. Yes, the others are from my 78 CB750. They're for sale too.. but not my intention of the picture ;)

Yes, that's my baby I'm trying to fund. haha

I wouldn't completely discount it - but I'd guess that shipping costs would be outrageous.. If you shoot me a message with a postal code or something I could try to get an estimate...

Some local people have expressed interest in buying all the parts as a lot, so I'd rather do that. If no one comes through though I may be able to help you out.

They're ~12.5 center to center on the mount points. I'd do $40 shipped.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was looking for 10" struts, but this morning I decided to say screw it and hardtail it. I was too nervous to, but here goes nothing..... angle grinder is in my hand now as I type.

If anyone needs the boots to attach the carbs to the engine, the person that bought them on ebay never paid and they are still available.

I could use the right and left rear view mirrors, and any tank mounting hardware you might have, the rubber bridge/damper, the racetrack shaped rubber donut,
the clip washer that fits into the donut, the bolt that fits through the hole in the clip washer, and the clip that slides under the bolt head. Let me know if you have
any of these. Private message me, let me know what you have and what you want for it.
