So I just noticed that there appears to be a hole in the underside of the exhaust just after the heat-shield going back towards the muff. I thought at first it was a "bad" hole but there's one on the other side in exactly the same place so I figure they're intentional - can anyone shed any light on their purpose?

I would assume to drain the water that collects in the exhaust from combustion.

So it would be bad to fill that hole in or cover it? Seems as they had gotten bigger over the years.

If you shut the hole your exhaust system will rust out quickly.
Is the edge of the hole distinct, and round?

Not anymore. Seems to have expanded, i.e. rusted.

I never thought I'd say these:

    1. DON'T shut your hole
    2. Your hole should be smaller
    3. Don't stick anything in your hole
    4. can you smell exhaust coming out of your hole
    5. Matti will be here shortly.......

I was originally going to tittle this page post "What should I do with this hole in my muff" but I stupidly decided to be mature. Glad you folks managed to bring this back down to the right level :)
