I have seen some comments from you guys about losing the rear fender, I guess it's all a matter of taste....I want to go the other way, and extend the rear fender down to lower the overall look of the rear.
I have recently changed the exhaust to a black one, and the mufflers sit a bit lower, which helps my cause a little. I have a replacement seat cover that I haven't put on yet that looks like a double bicycle seat, and finally if I do the rear fender thing I was thinking of painting it to match the tank and side covers. The grab bar will then look quite out of place.

    Questions:
-anyone done this, or have ideas about fabrication? I wonder about finding another chrome fender and adding it to the existing one somehow tojust lengthen it. But then, how about the tail light?
-that grab bar gives it the very bobtail look I am trying to get away from. Staring at it I wonder if there is a way to chop off the upturned part and weld it back on in a more horizontal orientation. Or, just lose it, but it does help with getting the bike on the centre stand.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Jim

hey there jimw, was thinking about doing the same thing, I really like the look of the full rear fender, and that would also give me some more options for a new tail light (cateye style). I saw a couple fenders I would like to try, one was from a 2005 yamaha vstar, could get for a good deal since it has a dent in it (easily fixed). But even at a good price don't want it to be a complete wqaste of money if this kind of mod is impossible? hope to hear from someone on here that has done a full rear fender mod and how they went about it
