    Just bought a 1983 xj900. Love the bike. It had 17k on it when I bought it. Now has 21k. It is hard to start when cold. How often do the valves need to be checked?

    If the bike is new to you a valve check is never a bad idea. Stock exhaust, stock airbox, carbs done by someone that nows what they are doing?
