Would love to find a local who can assist me ( I am a hands on learner and only have the Haynes manual, electronic owners manual, wiring diagrams, and this forum to assist me.) As for cell signal it is sketchy , but could try that.

That is not a good test and could damage your meter or coils, so don't do that again.

XJ550H and Jayrodoh - it's the pick-up coils - you need to verify these with the meter, which looks like it is working, and since you mentioned a knob to zero, I suspect you have an analogue meter.

This is the correct connector for the pick-up coils.

    XJ750 air-cooled models:

    Pick-up coils:
    650 ohms +/- 20% = 520 ohms to 780 ohms acceptable range

Check from the Black to the Orange and the Black to the Grey wire on the TCI mating connector that goes to the pick-ups. You can ignore the B/W wire for now.

If you are using an analogue meter you will need to change the scale from R x 1 to the next scale up, either R x 10 or R x 100. Touch the probes together and zero the meter with the knob before making the measurement. Make your reading on the ohms scale and multiply it by the setting - for example you read 6 on the meter, set on R x 100 equal 600 ohms. Always try to pick the scale that places the meter near the center of the scale to get the most accurate reading.

If the meter does not zero, particularly on the R x 1 scale often times it is need of a fresh 1.5V battery. Depending on the meter, most use the 1.5V battery for the two lower scales - R x 1 and R x 10, and then a 9V battery for the higher scales.

Have you tried jump-starting from your car or truck?

And you have to tell us what happened when you try to jump the bike? Did it turn over faster now that it had a better battery? Did it do the same as it did with the old batter? Need to know what happened when you tried to jump start it from the different source.

Did they actually check to see if there's spark?
If there's spark, then it looks like a fuel deliver issue, but right now, it's still q guessing game.
Of COURSE it's still at the mechanic!!!.........the longer it's there, the more they can charge you..
