where do i get piston rings?

    I have a very early XJ seca 900 1983 engine...(number 13 in fact)..that i would like to rebuild as a spare.
    I would appreciate someone letting me know where piston rings for the 853cc engine can still be obtained. Thanks

    IIRC the serial numbers are of a different series when the engine prefix is different. There will be "doubles," because the machines were built for different markets. The start-point would likely be different as well since pre-production work would have already been done, so no need to build more pre-production bikes for testing purposes.

    I can't find ANY XK900 models (31A or otherwise) that had serial numbers starting below 000101............but, it obviously happened, so it's either due to:

    a) bad info regarding what the starting serial numbers really were
    b) yours is an anomaly. Do you know whether this engine was in a matching-numbers frame?
