Those will be hard to find given that the XJs cylinder head is secured with studs and nuts. The nuts can be had from BikeBandit.com or the stealership. Somebody around here might even have a set laying around for your need. Be sure to replace or re-anneal the copper washers under the nuts on the oil galleries.

rusted top nuts. i thought maybe it would be easier to replace them than try and salvage them.

Then I would try the dealer. If they want to much try mcmaster.com. They have acorn nuts even in stainless steel.

Good call Blue, McMaster-Carr is your hardware friend. If they don't have it, odds are pretty good it doesn't exist.

Yea, I have bought many orings and stuff from McMaster-Carr. I checked their site and the stainless acorn nuts are just over $7 for 5. Maybe a little pricey but hey, they are stainless steel.

Whats the site and part number for the Stainless Steel Acorn Nuts for the Cylinder Head.

I'm already in eager anticipation to putting a few on the Max where they show.

What's the metric sizing for Acorn Head Nuts?

The Dealer wants viable organs and corneas for OEM Acorn Nuts!!!

I am taking one of mine over to Ace hardware to size it up. Only 2 were wrecked in disassembly. I dont want to pay too much for new ones. Ace will probably have SS just for the shine.

I have some of those acorn nuts in stainless steel(M10x1.25). They were very hard to find and I had to buy 100 of them , that was there minimum . I was supprised how many were actually on the bike. I have found 13 on the bike so far, stainless looks much better. I could part with some for what they cost me. I have the old ones also but they aren't real good looking.

Speaking of fasteners, are those weird nuts that hold the exhaust manifolds to the head available anywhere? Those are the long ones with the flared end. Mine rust immediately after wire brushing and I'd love to find a good replacement.

The Manifold Nuts with the flared-end are not worth what Yamaha charges for them.
They want you to believe that those Nuts are "Special"
    No.
    They're cheap soft steel.
The Flared end is an assembly "Time-saving" feature.
Instead of the assembler putting-on a Washer and then a Nut ... The "Flare-nut" serves to:
    Act as a washer ...
Not get "Lost in the Socket" ...
And, ... keeps the Assembly Line M>O>V>I>N>G !

    They're soft.
    Rust
    Cause headaches when seized
Need to be Cut-Off some bikes to replace Donuts.

Replacing the whole deal ain't a bad idea.
Stainless Bolt through a Lock Washer and a Flat Washer and tighten the flange.
