    Hello once again,

Does anyone know if there is a spoke rim package (front & back) that will fit on a 81 xj650?

I am hoping there is a rim from a different year or model that I can do a straight swap with modifying the frame or drive shaft.

    Thanks again

I have heard that certain years of virago had spoked wheel that will fit and xj but they are rare as hens teeth...from what I'm told anyway

there is a few threads in mods forum and yes there is a year or 2 of the virago that swap on. if you can find them it will cost you $$$ may be easier to find a virago parts bike

With a 140 rear tire, would it clear the swing arm on an xj? Or are the swing arms close to the same/are the same? Just wondering since XJ550H posted that specific info

You warned me it would be pricey.
I think I will keep an eye out for a rolling parts bike with a set of rims.
I guess I should keep an eye out for virago xv535. Would you know if there are any other virago with spoked wheel rims that would fit an xj650?

I'm not certain the XV535 fits.
I've seen a few 750 Viragos locally going cheap lately with the wire wheels.
As someone already explained you might need to respoke the rear 15" into a 16".

I recently had a 19" respoked to a 21" on another project, I think this cost me about $400 total.
This included rim, custom spokes and about $75 labour to spoke and true it, at that price I would never consider truing it myself.

I agree, the economical way will be to buy a bike and then just sell the bike.
1st goal before buying another bike would be to get my xj650 to pass safety - it wont pass because of the handle bars & side mounted licence plate

Well, you can watch for the spoke rims if you want… But you're going to have to fight with the rest of us are always watching for them too
